Yeadon councillors Ryk Downes, Sandy Lay and Colin Campbell will be donating £300 of their council MICE money to support the efforts of the Yeadon Youth Committee.
The Yeadon Youth Committee is made up of a number of young people from the Yeadon area, who work together to raise funds for various charities and causes. The most recent effort involved a sponsored head shave at the sailing centre in Tarnfield Park which raised over £800.
Now they are looking to expand their fundraising activities and have asked for £300 to complete their food safety and hygiene certificates, so they can take their fundraising to the next level.
Cllr Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley & Yeadon) said: “It is wonderful to see young people getting involved in their local communities and fund-raising for worthy causes.
I visited them several weeks ago to talk about their activities, and their work is so positive for the community. They have shown what is possible with a little motivation and support and thoroughly deserve this funding.
