Local Yeadon councillors Sandy Lay, Ryk Downes and Colin Campbell have confirmed that new equipment for the play area in Tarnfield Park is in the process of being ordered.
After discussions with the community, a scheme for new play equipment, stepped seating and extra fencing has been agreed at a cost of £117,500.
Cllr Lay said: “Once the new equipment arrives we hope to have it installed as soon as possible.
“Yeadon Tarnfield Park has always been a point of pride for local residents, and the proposed improvements to the play area will turn the park into the destination venue that Yeadon deserves.”
Cllr Campbell added: “It is always important to make sure our children have the best facilities possible, and this proposal for improving Yeadon Tarnfield playground is something we believe will benefit not only those who visit the playground, but the wider community as a whole.
“I now hope to see progress on this long held aspiration for Yeadon’s residents.”
Cllr Downes added: “The park is well used and loved by residents. Not only is it a great place to take your kids, but provides an astonishing range of activities from plane watching to fishing. It seems only right that the playground is of a calibre that a park of this stature merits.
