Otley to lose Children’s Newborn Hearing Service?

by rykdownes on 23 October, 2015

Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust (LCH) is constantly reviewing how it continues to provide the best possible care within the resources available as funding pressures for the NHS continue to rise. LCH is doing what it can to reduce the impact of these efficiencies on front line services, however this will inevitably have an impact on how and where services are provided in the future.

Information about the proposed changes have been distributed and discussed widely, including with Scrutiny and Health & Wellbeing leads. As there are changes being proposed across the city, we would like to draw to your attention the changes being proposed in your ward, to ensure you have the opportunity to give your feedback and share within your constituency as appropriate.

LCH has wide-ranging community services, the majority of which are provided in locations across the city. The proposed changes in your ward are:

Location : Otley Clinic

LCH Services Affected : Children’s Newborn Hearing service

Proposed Change : To remove the service from this location.

While these changes would affect health buildings in your ward, people often do not choose to attend their nearest health centre so it would not specifically be your constituents who would be impacted by changes.

The engagement documents (available here) include information about the nearest alternative for information and as an example, however as mentioned above, patients are able to choose which of the other alternatives would suit them best.

The period of public engagement closes on 5 November 2015 and can be completed online or by picking up a paper copy from one of the health centres affected, direct from services, or by contacting the Membership and Involvement Team . If you would like to discuss any of this further, please do contact us on 0113 2208551 or by emailing
