Local Lib Dem councillors Colin Campbell, Sandy Lay and Ryk Downes, have welcomed the announcement of £15,000 of improvements to be made to the outdoor communal facilities for the Abbey Garth, Saxton House and Well Lane flats in Yeadon.
The council has recently set up an Environmental Improvement Fund, which aims to make improvements in the areas around housing so they can be a better place to live. The £15,000 awarded to the schemes in this area will improve the flats’ shared bin shed capacity to improve hygiene, and install handrails at Wells Court to improve safety.
“I am glad that the council finally sees that a good home does not just mean making improvements inside housing,” said Cllr Campbell, “it also requires a safe and inviting neighbourhood.”
“These schemes will go some way towards making these flats better and safer for residents,”continued Cllr Lay. “This money will be a very welcome boost for the area.”
Cllr Ryk Downes finished: “We hope that this is just the start for Yeadon and Otley, and will push for further environmental improvements across the ward.”
