Yeadon Councillors Colin Campbell, Ryk Downes and Sandy Lay have welcomed the news that the long delayed refurbishment of Yeadon Library is about to start.
“This is great news,” said Cllr Campbell. “Yeadon is a very busy Library but because it is well used it has begun to look a little tired. The local Councillors have been in discussion with Library Services about an upgrade to existing facilities and the possibility of using more of the building. I am pleased to say the refurbishment has been agreed and will provide improved services including computer access, now one of Libraries most popular services. The big change however is that the One Stop Shop housing advice centre currently at Micklefield House will be moving to Yeadon.”
“We are very pleased that extra space at the Library has been found for the One Stop Shop said Cllr Lay. This will mean Yeadon residents with housing and benefits questions will no longer have to make the journey to Rawdon but will have the service on their doorstep.”
” I am particularly pleased that the refurbished Library will have an improved children’s section,” said Cllr Downes. “Getting children interested in books is vital to their learning and Yeadon will have a facility which is the envy of many parts of Leeds.”
